Elk antlers

Jackson Hole - an unfortunate name for a town. One of it's claims to fame, is the National Elk Reserve on its outskirts. There are no elk here now, but they migrate here in winter. At the entrance to the town and on each of the four corners of its town square are these curious arches made from elk antlers.
No elk were harmed in the making of the arches. Male elks shed their antlers every year and grow new ones. The old antlers are just left on the ground and have been collected to create all sorts of things. The visitor information centre has a chandelier made from antlers and we walked past an artists creating sculptures from them.
