Return to the wild

We spent a day wandering in the wilds of Glen Affric, a little south west of Inverness, not far from Loch Ness. It is a reserve where the ancient Caledonian forests are being encouraged to regrow. It was beautiful, almost reminiscent of the Walls of Jerusalem, the Tarn Shelf and Cradle Mountain.
Affric River falls through a crooked rock crevice into a fall gorge at Dog Falls.

Further up, the the river flows over and around a rocky platform.

Some small locals.

Reminds me of Artists Pool at Cradle Mt.
Part of Loch Affric. On the other side of the hill on the right, there is a large Victorian hunting lodge that you can rent for a mere $1800 per night per person - a bit out of our league.

  1. Yes, it does look a little like Cradle or Tarn Shelf.
