#wanderlust #one life is not enough

Stac Pollaidh and just look at the weather! Perfect!
Stac Pollaigh means a steep hill by the river, and it was. It looks a bit like Cradle Mountain from this angle but not as big, and only a 4.5km walk. It is made of sandstone which is eroding relatively quickly, in geologic time.
The views at the top were incredible! 360 degrees of mountains, lochans (tarns), islands and ocean.
The lumpy mountain near the centre of the photo is Suilven, our goal for the next day.
This is Knochan Crag, which is a crag/cliff with an interpretative information centre and a sculpture walk all about the geology of this amazing landscape.

And - no, we did not graffiti the road sign, but I love the sentiment. YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE. Do not waste your life!

  2. Is it amazing, isn't it? It looks like it is made of slate or similar stone, using dry stone wall methods, no visible mortar or anything holding it together and nothing visible anchoring it to the hillside either. But I think there must a steel rod or something in the middle that the stones are attached to, and going in to the ground.
