The unstoppable power of nature

The Seven Sisters (except that there are now eight due to the ocean eroding into another hill) are dramatic white chalk cliffs on England's south coast. I imagine the White Cliffs of Dover look like these. Dover is about two hours drive to the east.
Pat and myself, contemplating the grandeur, looking west. We walked from the eastern end to the western end and back - about 4 hours with a stop for lunch.
Taken from down on the shingle and flint beach, looking west. There is a viewing platform built out over the cliff edge with steps down to the beach at the eastern end at Birling Gap.
Adonis Blue butterfly.
Wildflowers in the grass in from the cliff top.
Looking back to the beginning. The lighthouse is now a B&B. It was moved on rails to position it further back from the eroding cliff edge in 1999. Can you se the building below it, perilously close to the cliff top? And the steps to the beach.
This shows the progress of erosion since 1910. The cliff recedes an average of .7m per year, although a winter storm can increase this speed.
Two thirds of this row of cottages have disappeared. The unstoppable power of nature.
Found this on the cliff top.
