Wild Orkney

Wandering by the sea, oh, the things you can see, wandering by the sea.

Even though much of Orkney looks a bit the same with very few trees, it actually has a surprising amount of bird life, and a dramatic and varied coastline.

Unplanned seal watching - about 20 seals, mostly mothers and their young.

Arctic terns

This is called The Gloup. A gloup is a sea cave which has collapsed and through which air and water is blown, aka a blowhole.
Nesting fulmars and a black guillemot.
Shags on the rocks.
Otters live on this beach. Sadly, we did not see them, but we did see their spraint! (Otter pooh - I have no idea why it is called spraint!)

I have many many more photos of seals, birds, sea weed and rocks, but you are probably bored by now.
