The beginning

Arrived to cliched greyish English weather but an unexpected bird's eye view of London!
Took a bus with malfunctioning heating that baked us alive and heat stressed all the passengers especially one poor little girl. Arrived to mostly sunny skies in the truly beautiful UNESCO listed city of Bath.
Completed our first day by attending church. Yes, we went to the evening service in Bath Abbey.
It was the final service after a full day of events at the church, and nation wide, to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday. No music, just readings of prayers, a sermon and powerpoint of photos of the Queen - simple and quiet, followed by chips, sponge cake and bubbly to toast her majesty. This is the first time in my whole life that I have ever actually done anything to celebrate the queen on the Queen's Birthday long weekend which it currently is in Australia, and here I am drinking a toast to her in an English gothic stone church. Totally unplanned. Rather English, a bit quirky, and completely free.

I like this:
Beautiful on a number of levels.
