Our guide talked about life in the crannog house with about 25 people living together there.
She showed us how they turned wood, made flour and started the fire using wood and rope - no matches or flint.Across the end of Loch Tay sits the pretty village of Kenmore built by the Earl of Breadalbane to service his Taymouth Castle. This is where Donald was born, in the village, not the castle.
Across the bridge, built in 1771, sits the Mains of Taymouth
Fully developed as holiday and residential cottages with a resaurant and shop, the Mains was once the farm where all the food for the castle was grown. This was once the stables.
This is the huge walled garden now filled with houses.
This should be the last time I bore you all with my family history. Thank you for your patience.
