Meet Phoebe, the Fiat 500. Oh - the places she took us!
Our accomodation for one night near Uig on the western side of the Isle of Lewis. It was a bunkhouse which meant we could have been sharing with 6 other people, but no one else was there, so it was our private cottage. Pure serenity.
Another peaceful spot with no neighbours - three nights in a glamping pod at Lochboisdale on the the island of South Uist, watching tide come in and out, birds and seals swimming and the owner's athletic sheep jumping out of and back into her paddock, something she did every day to eat the greener grass on the other side of the fence.
She would stand on a rock, looking over her shoulder to check no one was watching...
Then with one elegant leap, she was over the barbed wire and eating sweet green grass. (Bad photo, but it is the only one I managed to get) She did this twice a day every day.Our pod was built in to the hillside, and it was tiny but it contained 2 beds, a bathroom and kitchenette, and we did not have to share with strangers.
And the view was lovely, full of birds, seals, elusive otters and peace.
Our other Outer Hebrides accommodation included 2 B&Bs and a crowded hostel. We have decided we don't really like sharing.
Oh sharing doesn’t sound like fun at all. What a funny sheep! 😁 That little pod almost looks hobbitish, very cute.
